ABOUT US
FOUNDER'S MESSAGE:
The who, what, when, where, why & how of Strings4Hope ...
WHO:
We are middle school musicians who live near New York City.
NYC is one of epicenters of the COVID-19 pandemic.
We all have friends or family that have been impacted by COVID-19.
WHAT:
Strings4Hope is a short, virtual concert.
We want to share our passion for string instruments (cello, violin, viola, piano)
We want to perform for YOU (whether you are suffering from COVID-19 in a hospital, or you're on the front lines fighting the virus, or you're finding it hard to deal with the social distancing and quarantine)... we are here to perform virtual string concerts for YOU.
WHY:
Since schools closed in March, I have been playing my cello online, and performing
for my grandparents in Westchester County, my great-aunt in Arizona,
my relatives in Manhattan...
I have tried to entertain them and ease the stress of quarantine and self-isolation.
This got me thinking about how I would love to "visit" COVID-19 patients
stuck in the hospital, without the love and support of their families and friends.
I also wanted to share some music with the front line heroes caring for patients and running the hospitals.
So I reached out to some of my strings friends and asked them to join me.
The response was great, and now we are a group of about a dozen musicians.
The idea that we come for a visit is as important as the music itself.
Maybe we could make the patients and staff feel a little less alone.
Maybe we could remind them of the beautiful things in life, like music.
Maybe we could give them HOPE.
WHERE:
From our quarantine to yours.
We each play from our homes, from a laptop computer, a tablet, or a cell phone.
We want to make a virtual visit to you!
HOW:
We want you to know that we spend a lot of time preparing for our virtual visits.
We rehearse our pieces and work-out how to use technology to reach our audience.
We work with our hospital partners to find the best way to deliver our music.
Bringing you a smile or a little hope makes us feel we have done something to help.
... And that's how Strings4Hope was born.
Thanks so much for reading.
